The GMAT applicants' queries are increasing on how to register for the GMAT exam. Before registration take note of the fees of the GMAT. The registration fees for the entrance test stand at approximately US$250 and a rescheduling fee of US$50 is also chargeable if required. The cancellation fees stand at US$80.

How to Register for the GMAT Exam?

GMAT registration can be done throughout the year. However, you should plan for the GMAT preparation before you register for the GMAT. You can register for the exam anytime at your convenience. However, the number of applicants is increasing every year, so you shouldn't wait until the last moment to register for the GMAT. You should book the slot at least 2-3 months before the desired date of attempting.

Steps to register for GMAT online:

  1. Visit the official GMAT website’s registration page and click on “Register now”
  2. After logging onto the GMAT official website, you are required to create an account by filling in your basic details such as first name, last name, E-mail ID, and password. Click on create an account. 
  3. You will be directed to the “My Account” page. Click on Register for the GMAT ONLINE Exam.
  4. In the next step, you have to create your GMAT profile. You will be asked more about your Personal Details, along with your address, Date of Birth, Preferred way of Communication (SMS or Phone), Which Courses and Countries are interested in, and so on. After that, you will have to verify if all the details you have put are correct. 
  5. Once you fill in all your details, verify the information, confirm it, and click on save the profile.
  6. In the next step Schedule, your exam. You can choose a maximum of three test centres near you. Tick the options. Choose the date and time available. 
  7. In the next step, you will have to make the online payment after choosing your test dates and time. The GMAT fee is $250. Your GMAT registration will be completed only after making the payment.

Fee Payment for the GMAT

You can make online payments for GMAT registration through debit card, credit card, or net banking; according to your comfort. Remember that once you schedule the exam, you will have a limited amount of time to complete the payment. After payment, you will receive a confirmation notification of the exam date and test centre. 

Registration for Requesting Reasonable Test Accommodations if You Have a Disability

If you have a disability that prevents you from appearing for the GMAT exam under standard conditions, you may request accommodations by completing the following steps:
  1. Create a candidate profile that captures your contact information and provides an ID number. 
  2. You must not register for the GMAT until you receive an accommodation decision. If the officials approve your request, they will direct you as to how to register for accommodated testing appointments.
  3. Collect the documents as mentioned in the disability type in the GMAT Supplement for Test Takers with Disabilities: 
    • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
    • Learning and Cognitive Disorders
    • Physical and Systemic Disabilities 
    • Psychological Disabilities
    • Sensory Disabilities (Vision and Hearing)
  4. Click on ‘Apply for Accommodations’ at the bottom of the webpage to complete an accommodation request and to attach supporting documentation. 
  5. You will receive a confirmation message through email after you have submitted an Accommodation Request Form.  Within 24 hours of your request submission, your ‘My Account’ page will also be updated to reflect your submitted accommodation requests.
  6. GMAC will send a written decision to you with instructions for the next steps. 

GMAT Exam Dates

There are no specific GMAT exam dates. One can register for the exam all year. You should choose available dates with a proper plan. GMAT dates should be taken at least 3 to 4 months before the application deadlines of your business schools. Exams occur on both halves of the day. A maximum of 5 attempts are allowed in one year.
