“France is Ready to Welcome You” For many international students who want to study in France in 2020, this comes as great news. Despite the ongoing pandemic and many countries reluctant about welcoming international students, France has opened its doors to international students and has taken enough steps so international students coming to France can join their dream universities from 1st August 2020.
This applies to students from all the countries, and for all types of programs: long term or short term. Students can join their respective universities from August 1st in France. Here is all you need to know about the study in France in 2020, and the steps required for the same.

The entry restrictions are different based on the country of origin of the students. For example, international students coming from many European countries to study in France in 2020 would not have to go under any testing or other restrictions before joining. On the other hand, if a student is coming from India, they would require some documents to carry along. We will discuss in detail what those documents are.
Even for Red Zone countries, the borders have been opened for international students and researchers to study in France in 2020. There are three phases to Red Zone depending on the country of origin. This is how it works.

If you are a student from zone 1 (including India), you will have to present a negative COVID-19 test result upon arrival. The test must be taken under 72 hours before flying. Or, you can take a COVID-19 test upon arrival in France.
However, Campus France advises students to take take the test before flying for the safety of others and easier arrival in France.
If the test taken upon arrival comes positive, there would be a mandatory Quarantine for 14 days. Apart from these requirements, you will have to carry:
Exempted Movement Certificate: This can be downloaded from the Ministry of Interior France’s Website, and to be shown to travel companies and border control authorities of France.
A Sworn Statement: That you do not have any of the COVID-19 symptoms.
Contact Sheet: A contact sheet providing your accommodation address in France
If you are a student from zone 2, apart from the three documents listed above, you will need to present a negative COVID-19 test result which was taken under 72 hours before flying to France. It is important to remember that unlike countries from zone 1, these students do not have the provision to take a COVID-19 test upon arrival.
If you are a student from zone 3, you will have to present a negative COVID-19 test result taken under 72 hours before flying to France, just like countries from zone 1 and 2. For some reason, if you are not able to provide the test result, you will have to go under voluntary self-quarantine. The three documents listed above are required for students from these countries, also.
If a student is coming from red zone 3 and he or she is unable to present the COVID-19 test results, they will have to go under voluntary self-quarantine for 14 days. That means staying home and avoiding contact with others as much as possible. A doctor should be contacted if any symptom arises during this time of quarantine. It is also advised to notify your accommodation beforehand if you are going under voluntary quarantine.
