Schengen Visa Validity

The Validity of the Schengen Visa is for 90 days collective stay in the Schengen Area in span of 180 days. The period of that validity of that visa can be anywhere between one to five years depending on the type of the Schengen Visa. However the period of validity cannot exceed the expiry of the holder’s passport.
Based on the frequency of the travel, the Schengen Visa is divided into three parts. The single entry Schengen visa means that the holder of the visa can enter the Schengen Area once in during the validity of the visa. Similarly double entry and multiple entries allow the visa holder to enter the Schengen area twice and multiple times respectively. The validity of the Visa can be 1, 3 or 5 years. However, in any case, the rule of 90 days collectively in span of 180 days remain intact.

Can Schengen Visa Validity be extended?

The Schengen Visa can be extended, or renewed, however those are rare exceptions. It is renewable, but does not allow the individuals to work in France. Unlike France Long Stay Visa, the Schengen Visa does not include the French Residence Permit.

Students need to book an appointment online to the embassy to apply for the Schengen Visa, the application however, is done at the embassy of the country you are travelling to. The Schengen Visa is for the countries included in Schengen Area from the Europe. There are 26 countries in Europe that have signed the Agreement for the Schengen Visa, and in those countries, Schengen Visa is valid. Apart from those 26 countries who have signed Schengen Agreement, there are 19 countries that allow holders of the “Multiple Entry Schengen Visa” to enter without a specific national visa.
