    Aim of the Scholarships

    Various Universities offers scholarship for foreign higher education students, graduates who would like to gain further knowledge and experience in Hungarian higher education establishments. Applications by citizens of relations that have a valid educational work plan or a bilateral agreement signed by the Hungarian Government or the Ministry of Human Capacities and the relevant ministry of the given country. Evidence regarding the application procedure, internal deadlines and the pre-assessment and shortlisting of applications is in the scope of duties of Universities. Applications ranked by these offices take priority.

    1. Hungarian Government Scholarships for Foreign Students:

    Bilateral State Scholarships Description

    Bilateral state scholarships are stranded on informative cooperation agreements signed by the governments of two countries. The Hungarian side offers scholarships for foreign students, researchers and lecturers in higher education institutions.     Submitting an individual application

    If not being selected by the home country, candidates simply need to submit their submissions online system.

As a result, candidatesare informed about the result directly by email and also sends other required information in order to help and start the stay in Hungary.

    Scholarships Types and Eligibility

    Candidates, as future governmental scholarship holders for bachelor, master and Phd studies, can only apply for courses held in Hungarian language. Just in casecandidates do not have a B2-level Hungarian information, they may only apply for full degree studies if they join a one year long Hungarian language foundation course previous the studies.

    In case of bachelor or master studies, applications may be give in to according to the conditions stipulated in the bilateral state agreement. A successful entry exam at the getting institution is a condition to being approved by the scholarship.

    In case of doctoral studies: For candidates holding a master’s degree. Aeffective entrance exam at the Hungarian doctoral school is a condition to being granted by the scholarship.

    Age Limit for Applicants

    For all categories of state scholarships candidates must be over 18 at the time of submitting the application.

    2. Masters Scholarships at CEU School of Public Policy

    Brief Description:

    Scholarships for English-taught Master’s Degrees at CEU School of Public Policy are accessible for students. The degrees are accredited in the U.S. and/or in Hungary.

    Host Institution(s):

    CEU School of Public Policy in Budapest, Hungary

    Field of study:

    Public policy, international relations, development studies, international affairs.

    • Master of Public Administration (MPA) (Two years)
    • Master of Arts in Public Policy (MAPP) (One year)

    Number of Awards:

    Mostly of students at SPP receive monetary support or a scholarship

    Target Group:

    All candidates, regardless of their country of origin, are considered for Master's and Master's Excellence Scholarships.

    For the Master program there are special scholarship for scholars from Southeast Asia, South Balkans and the Middle East among others.

    Scholarship value/inclusions:

    Scholarships range from 50-100% tuition waiver and health insurance to 100% tuition sacrifice, health insurance, living stipend and housing. All applicants are considered on merit basis.

    Eligibility:

    The School is looking for students who have:

    • Strong academic background (3-4 year bachelor’s degree)
    • High aptitude and passion for learning both in and out of the classroom
    • High leadership potential with demonstrable interpersonal skills
    • Strong interest in public policy issues
    • Desire to work for the public good in the public, non-profit, or private sector

    All applicants must meet the general CEU admission requirements as well as program-specific requirements

    3. Central European University Visiting Fellowship Program

    Brief Description:

    Central European University’s Visiting Research Fellowships is supported by the Higher Education Support Program of the Open Society Foundations.This Fellowships will be offered to those who are employed in higher education institutions, and those who wish to spend their one or two semesters at CEU which conducts original research leading to a publication in an international journal. Central European University Provides around 10 number of Scholarships. Here, Companions are supported for a period of three to six months Fellowship covers travel costs, accommodation cost and also monthly a pay of 1,800 USD per month.

    Eligibility:

    • At the time of application Applicants should be employed in a teaching or research Institution in their home country.
    • Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent Degree and also have a research record in a field which is covered underCEU academic units.
    • Applications not meeting eligibility requirements will not be considered.
